The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in NHS activities. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
National Honor Society is a service organization. Membership is a highly sought after honor and it requires commitment to the ideals of the organization. Your acceptance of membership in National Honor Society will indicate your willingness to participate in all NHS activities such as meetings and service projects. Your membership in NHS in contingent on your completion of all chapter requirements. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in dismissal from the National Honor Society.
* Pick up an application in the office or Mr. Jacobs room. Application DUE NOVEMBER 24, 2015
* All sophomores, juniors and seniors who have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.25 or above may apply for admission to Honor Society.
* All Activities, accomplishments, etc. included in the application must have taken place during high school.
* All applications are read anonymously. Your name will be removed and replaced with a number. Please avoid indicating your identity anywhere in the application. Anonymity ensures impartiality and makes the selection process much easier for the committee.
